What we do

Many orders that we carry out are complex projects, in which translation is combined with typesetting, layout and graphic design of materials according to specifications provided by our clients. We present several examples of the projects we have implemented. As we are bound by the provisions of confidentiality agreements, the below descriptions are exemplary and refer to specific projects that have been successfully completed.

Multi-language instruction manuals

Development of an original microwave oven instruction manual in English and its translation into 20 languages. The instruction was prepared on the basis of materials provided by the clients: manuscripts, photographs and drawings. Once the original version in English was approved, our team translated the manual into 20 languages. Two booklets were prepared for printing. Janal’s team of over 30 professionals was engaged in the project: translators, proof-readers, graphic designers, DTP experts and project coordinators. The entire process – from the receipt of the manuscript to sending materials for printing – took less than 3 weeks and we worked alongside the client’s representatives in China, France and Great Britain.

Close cooperation despite a distance of 7,000 km

Developing the original manuals involved close although remote cooperation. Our projects are often overseen directly by specialists from factories in the Far East. The following scheme outlines work on an original instruction manual for an audio device. The original manual is created in parallel with the prototype of a device. We receive information materials and guidance directly from the factory, and the documentation is modified on a continuous basis pursuant to the comments of engineers; they modify subsequent versions of the manual we send to them by making handwritten corrections. The following instruction manual was created at the request of a factory in Malaysia; it was subsequently translated into 24 languages, including Arabic, Persian, Indonesian and Thai.

Preparing line art vector graphics

Photographs provided by the clientare often transformed using vector graphics. Instructions featuring such images are clearer, more professional and take up less space, which greatly facilitates their Internet transfer.

Rebranding – logo transformation

Large multinational corporations from the electronics sector often operate in many markets using different trademarks. For this reason, it is often necessary to prepare marketing materials with different logos. In many cases, photos of presented products need retouching. The following images outline this process using a general example. In the majority of cases, pictures represent small devices, such as blenders, vacuum cleaners, washing machines or stereo systems, but we can also “repaint” a tank or even an aircraft.

Managing websites of international corporations in several languages

For nearly ten years, we have managed the website of a multinational company from the consumer electronics sector. We constantly update information on their product range and adapt it to local markets on the basis of guidelines we receive from marketing and product managers. In cooperation with local PR agencies, we post press articles and modify subsequent pages directly in the client’s CMS systems.
